Economics is about how individuals, businesses, governments and nations make choices in a world of scarce resources. You will master the analytical tools economists use to shed light on diverse contemporary issues such as inflation, income inequality within and across countries, gender wage gap, trade and globalization, economic development and climate change, as well as mechanism and market design. Upon graduation, you will be equipped with marketable skills to pursue careers in the government, non-profit, and private sectors, or to further your studies. Crucially, the program will enhance your decision-making skills, enabling you to make more informed choices across various facets of life.

What you’ll learn

• Acquire an in-depth knowledge of seminal ideas and economic theories that have shaped the world we live in.
• Build a strong mathematical foundation and proficiency in statistical techniques employed to analyze economic data.
• Develop the ability to apply the core theories and empirical tools to understand complex problems in economics and the economic dimension of today’s broader social and political issues.
• Evaluate the individual and social effects of public policies.

Hands-on experiences

• Engage in hands-on learning experiences and interactive activities in the classroom and beyond, including experiments, simulations, case studies, and community-based research.
• Hone your economics skills by participating in events such as the Bank of Canada’s Governor’s Challenge and Case Competition.
