The programme focuses on a range of topics of relevance to policy makers and practitioners. In recent years, the work environment for social work practitioners is becoming globalised. In addition, social justice and equality issues are an increasingly prominent concern in the social scientific research. The MSocSc offers a wide range of topics including housing, health and social care, drugs and alcohol in the community, theory and practice in social work, gender equality, environment, migration and family health management, and social protection. Applicants please note: this programme, on its own, does not provide the accreditation required to practice as a Social Worker.

    UCD Global Scholarships

    The scholarships administered by UCD Global are for students who will be charged non-EU fee rates only. If a student is charged EU fees following an assessment, they are not eligible for the scholarships advertised through UCD Global (though they may still be eligible for other UCD scholarships). For queries on this, please contact UCD Global. There are two scholarships administered directly by UCD Global.

    1. Global Excellence Scholarships which cover 50% or 100% of the tuition fees. Prospective students must submit an application for the Global Excellence Scholarship.

    Global Excellence Scholarship

    • All successful applicants to eligible full time programs are invited to apply to our prestigious Global Excellence Scholarship. The Global Excellence Scholarship is funded by UCD and aims to attract excellent candidates. Applications are open to applicants who already have an offer or conditional offer to study at UCD.

    Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships

    • The Irish Higher Education Authority runs an annual competition to select 60 Government of Ireland International Education Scholars across Ireland.     • Students starting a PhD within the UCD School of Politics and International Relations are invited to apply for the UCD Iseult Honohan Doctoral Scholarship. Applications from all areas of the discipline including political science, political theory, international relations, European governance, computational social science, development and international political economy are welcome.
