Program Overview

Psychology overview
Not all minds work the same way, which is why our postgraduate psychology courses offer the freedom to explore your own field of interest. Learn from research-active psychology experts in well-equipped facilities, and apply your learning and ideas in practice.
Work with world-leading researchers in understanding mental health problems and making a difference to people’s lives. Gain both a theoretical and practical understanding through guest lectures, industry-standard facilities and our Lived Experience Project.
Our course is geared to take you closer to your career goals. Its relevance is grounded in learning from research-active staff, with guest lectures from practicing clinical psychology lecturers.

If you’re looking to pursue a career as a qualified psychologist, or in related mental health areas, our course gives you the preparation for further clinical psychology training. You’ll learn to assess and understand the complex issues many people living with mental health problems suffer from, examining ways to help manage these and find appropriate treatment. You’ll graduate with both the theoretical knowledge and practical tools to work within mental health services and clinical psychology, as well as be equipped with the skills to apply scientific and research methods.

Please note that this course does not include clinical work with children, patients or mental health service users. This course does not constitute professional training, though it can support entry to a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent). We encourage you to seek out relevant paid or voluntary experience while completing your studies; our course is designed to facilitate this.

    Eligibility

    • The family bursary is granted to the second and subsequent family members who study at a Navitas institution.
    • The bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for one program only with a Navitas member institution. The bursary does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken.
    • For Diploma students, the bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fees for the first attempt at units in the program of study† (excluding mixed English option).
    • For Certificate students, the bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for the first attempt at units in the program of study (excluding mixed English options).

If the student remains enrolled at the institution, at the end of the week 4 of their first semester, 10% of their tuition fee paid will be credited to the student. The balance of the bursary is credited to the eligible students’s tuition account in the second and subsequent semesters. (The amount credited will be calculated on the actual number of units studied).
    • The maximum value of the family bursary is 10% of the tuition fees for the first attempt of units in the program of study regardless of the number of family members who have studied with Navitas institutions.
    • A completed application must be submitted to the Navitas institution together with supporting documents such as a birth certificate or family card.
    • The General Manager or the Director Finance Administration will approve the award of a family bursary and authorise the accountant to process the relevant adjustments.
