Student Services at UNBC

The International Office, along with many other UNBC departments, offer a range of services to all international students.

Campus Life: Student Life at UNBC develops and implements fun student activities that engage a diverse student population and enrich their experience. Additionally, there are dozens of student-run clubs, CIS-level varsity athletics teams, intramurals, and countless outdoor activities right in our own backyard. Life at UNBC is fun, supportive, and social.

Academic Success Centre: The Academic Success Centre offers a variety of face-to-face and drop-in tutoring services, including online support. In addition, we provide peer-led learning programs such as Supplemental Instruction (SI) and Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL). To ensure quality service in all learning environments all our tutors and peer leaders receive ongoing certified training.

Academic Advising: Academic Advising assists students with planning their degree by offering course guidance, degree selection and registration assistance. Advisors are available for oneon-one appointments, drop-in sessions and by email.

Career Centre: The UNBC Student Career Centre provides services for students, our alumni and employers in our community. Our services include arranging employer recruitment and information sessions for students, participating in annual career fairs hosted on campus, posting career opportunities for UNBC alumni, posting part-time and full-time jobs for students, and organizing Co-operative Education work term placements.

Peer Mentorship Program: This Program is for students who are interested in connecting with returning students to help them adjust to life in university. They learn about study tips, services available on campus, what to do in the community and make new friends.

Library Services: The UNBC Library is home not only to academic journals and reference books, but also hosts a wide range of student services. If you have a question about researching for a paper, need to request a resource from another library, or want to book a quiet study room.

Health and Wellness: UNBC offers both an on-campus Medical Clinic as well as Counselling Services. Students can see a doctor or nurse about their health concerns as well as visit a counsellor, at no cost to the student.
